Precautions for installation and renovation of gas burners

Precautions for installation and renovation of gas burners
An analysis is conducted on the problems existing in the installation and renovation process of industrial boiler gas burners, and corresponding solutions are proposed to maximize safety.1. Installation and Transformation of Gas Burners in Industrial BoilersIndustrial boiler burners are an extension product of boilers and a part of special equipment. According to the Regulations on Safety Supervision of Special Equipment, they must obtain permission from the special equipment safety supervision and management department of the State Council. This is a national regulation that everyone and any unit should abide by, and users are not allowed to install or modify it without authorization.2. Burner selection(1) The thermal load of the burner depends on the outlet volume and low heating value of the nozzle at a certain supply pressure. There are two types of gas calorific values: high calorific value and low calorific value. High calorific value refers to the fuel's calorific value when water vapor in the flue gas condenses after fuel combustion. Low calorific value refers to the calorific value of water vapor in flue gas when it does not condense after fuel combustion. The exhaust gas temperature of the boiler exceeds 100 ℃, and the water vapor in the flue gas will not condense under atmospheric pressure. So the fuel used in the boiler has a lower calorific value. The use of burners in boilers requires detailed calculations based on boiler power, boiler efficiency, fuel calorific value, air pressure, and temperature.(2) The flame shape of the burner must conform to the shape of the furnace and should be carried out without hindering flame propagation, that is, its combustion length must not exceed the length determined by the furnace structure; The diffusion (diameter) should not impact the heating surface. Due to the significant difference in calorific value of gas fuels, ranging from 3265kJ/m3 to 114875kJ/m3, there are also certain differences in flame shapes between different gas fuels. When choosing a combustion furnace, it is necessary to understand the geometric dimensions of its flame shape.(3) The maximum and minimum allowable air pressure before the burner. For a burner with a fixed structure, its nozzle structure is already fixed. When the gas type is consistent with the burner design, the power of the burner during operation is only related to the intake pressure. The gas source pressure is not completely stable. When the pressure increases, the gas flow rate increases, and vice versa, it can easily cause combustion faults. To avoid this situation, a pressure regulating valve should be installed in the gas supply pipeline, and the range of pressure regulation should be selected according to the gas source and the situation of the gas source.(4) The layout of the burner should be consistent with the shape of the furnace body, ensuring good flame filling. The nozzle should be kept at an appropriate distance from the furnace mouth, bottom, and wall, and the flame should have sufficient length to avoid interference from the four walls. When multiple burners are used in pipelines where the flame cannot contact the heating surface, the distance between the burners should ensure that the flames do not interfere with each other.(5) The structure of the burner should ensure a uniform mixture of gas and air, with adjustable air to gas ratios, ensuring that it does not misfire at high loads and does not backfire at low loads.(6) In principle, the same type of gas as indicated on the burner nameplate should be used. When switching to a different type of gas, prior consultation with the burner supplier and written approval should be obtained. Usually, it is necessary to readjust the burner and replace individual components.(7) The installation position of the burner should be easy to operate, which means that the distance between the centerline of the burner and the walls of the furnace wall should be ensured. As the burner is the main operating object of the boiler, its position should be easy for the driver to operate and observe.3. Technical data preparationThe technical information provided by the burner manufacturer, such as drawings, user manuals, and setting instructions, is the most important technical information during installation and modification. The installation and modification department must be fully familiar with the user manual. Currently, the installation and modification department is not paying enough attention to collecting this information. Simply mechanically connecting the various components of the burner and handing them over to the equipment supplier for adjustment is not enough. The installation and renovation of industrial boiler gas burners is a very professional job, which should be carried out by professional units and personnel, and strict work procedures should be followed to reduce accidents.
